It has a dual core A5 chip for fast and powerful performance.

It is enhanced with both Facetime and isight cameras, the facetime HD camera on the front, and the isight 5MP 1080P HD video camera at the back.

Battery

Add to this is a full 10 hours of battery life ( will vary by use and configuration).

Apple say that If they had just taken the original ipad, and reduced it, all that you would be aware of, was everything that was just missing, because there is inherent loss when something like this is just reduced in size. But, what apple did with the mini, was go back to the very beginning, taking time to design a product that was a concentration of, not a reduction of, the original.

Apple felt strongly that 7.9 inches was exactly the right display size. But it became clear that they had to reduce the width of the borders, so that you can still pick it up and use it with just one hand.

Apple has continued to develop their….unibody process. Essentially, there are two parts to the ipad mini enclosure, the glass, and the aluminium. The junction where these two parts meet and come together, is incredibly important. The diamond cut chamfer meets seamlessly with the glass, which in itself is beautiful in detail but, but more importantly, further reduces the use of parts, and makes the mini more durable.

There was also designed for it, and entirely new smartcover, which eliminates the separate aluminium hinge, which essentially allows the ipad mini to be wrapped in a single, yet simple, coloured material cover. (Sold Separately)

The Ipad Mini Challenge

The biggest challenge faced by apple, was incorporating all these great features, in a much smaller and lighter device. In order to do this, every part had to be custom designed. Starting with the display, with the glass on the front and back being only 0.2 mm thick, and the sub system is a mere 0.12 mm thick, which contributes to the fact that the ipad mini weighs half as much as any ipad that has come before it.

Behind the scenes, apple took some dramatic steps to maximize interior space. For instance, it has the largest, and thinnest single cell battery that Apple has ever designed.
There is also a smaller Apple designed motherboard using the powerful A5 chip, and also sports the smaller, in-built, lightning connector.

Also redesigned is the isight and facetime HD cameras, that will allow us to take amazing photos and HD videos.

Apple has taken the time to build all this technology into a device that is only .68 lb in weight, and 7.2mm thick, which is a quarter the size of a normal ipad, and is literally, pencil thin.

All of these efforts and design were combined together to make a product that is incredibly thin and light, and has absolutely remarkable levels of sophistication and technology.
The result is, the extraordinary, latest ipad mini. One that will be used in so many different places, and in so many different ways.

Really, what can you say about this rumour. At the moment, it is just that, a rumour, an expectation of what might be. Come the 23rd of October 2012, all will be revealed, whatever it is, if anything at all.
The articles that have been written about, what it may be like, have been numerous, quoting this one, and that one. You’ve read them, haven’t you.

What is true, and what isn’t ? Predictions about the new mini ipad have been flowing fast. Predictions like the following, and much more……….

• Launch dates?
• Weight with carbon fibre casing?
• The mini’s production happening in Brazil?
• Will it have an A6 processor?
• Will it be shipped in time for the holiday season?
• Will it have the “lightning Connector”?
• Will it have a front side “Camera”?
• Have the press invitations been mailed out as of October 10?
• Are the leaked ipad mini pictures true?
• Will it have a 7.85 inch liquid crystal display?
• Has it been difficult to build a scratch proof back case?

And, on it goes.

There is one thing though. There is a lot of enthusiasm for the suspected Ipad mini. Even China has put out a dummy of the rumoured Ipad mini.
